How to Choose Spinning For Perch?

Tips A spinning rod for perch should have a certain test, class, structure, and length. We tell you about what parameters should be considered and which lures will be useful for the striped.

Catching perch on spinning is easier than other fish: it is one of the most common species and is distinguished by its fertility. Perch fishing is carried out throughout the open water season, starting in spring, and continues until deep autumn.

You can search for it both from the shore and from the boat, but it should be placed with clean water. Despite its small size, perch gives a pleasant resistance when plucking, so special attention should be paid to the selection of tackles.

Spinning rods buy, given their test, class, structure, and length.

Rod test

The rod test shows how much weight the bait can be used. It is measured in grams (g) or ounces (oz, 1 ounce, 28.35 grams) and corresponds to the minimum and maximum limit. Keep in mind that it will be more difficult to control a heavier tackle than indicated on the form, and the rod will fail faster.

Usually, perches are caught on spinning test 1-7 or 3-14 grams. It will successfully catch an individual weighing from 50 grams to 1 kg.

Rod class

In the class of rods, there is ultralight, light, medium, medium-heavy and heavy. Typically, spinning players take a light and ultralight class for perch, less often medium-light. Such tackles allow you to throw lures of small scales and work out qualitatively the weighting of small individuals.

Build a rod

Spinning is divided into several categories: rods with superfast formation, which under load bends only their upper part, to models with a slow structure – bend along the entire length.

For perch spinning is preferable:

  • medium (bend 1/2 whip) system – sharpened fishing from the shore or the coastal strip. Resistant to loads, designed for long-range casts;
  • A Fast (bending by 1/3 whip) system is suitable for fishing from the boat and in difficult conditions. It’s sensitive enough.

Medium-built rods work out the sharp jerks of resisting fish, which is not uncommon in perch, huge ones.

Length of rod

Choose the length of the spinning based on the nature of the pond and fishing technique:

  • 1.9-2.4 m – small reservoirs, overgrown on the shore and fishing from a boat;
  • 2.4-3.2 m – for fishing from a clean shore on a large reservoir or a large river;
  • 3.2-3.6 m – for long throws from the steep shore.

The optimal spinner length for perch can be considered 2.1-2.4 m.

Rod design

The rods are plug and telescopic.

The first is convenient for transportation because, in the collected state, their size does not exceed 60 cm. But the balance, sensitivity, and reliability of them, worse than those of telescopic. The reason lies in the design: many knees (from 3 to 7) and docking nodes are used. This option may be suitable for a small perch but provided that the rig is chosen correctly.

The most practical is the spinning of the plug type. They usually consist of two or three sections, have a good balance, and high sensitivity. Such gear on the perch is the most popular.
